       Visto dall'alto il  paese sembra un vero e proprio gioiello incastonato tra la collina ed il mare il cui confine appare segnato dalla linea bianca della spiaggia sabbiosa che si allunga ad arco per oltre 2 km. La parte più alta è a quota 573 mt. ma l'accesso fino ai 350 mt. è molto agevole. Una strada asfaltata e illuminata sale su per Contrada Zercate con ampi tornanti fino ad una grande radura dalla quale è possibile dominare un paesaggio che si estende a perdita d'occhio per oltre 270 gradi. Il panorama si presenta come un incredibile susseguirsi di immagini stupende che si compongono e definiscono in multiforme sfumature sia verso l'azzurro profondo del mare, ove come un'oasi si staglia l'isoletta con la sua torre cinquecentesca, che verso la corona di rilievi i quali costituivano le primordiali scogliere dell'Era Quaternaria. La strada continua a salire mentre le splendide montagne, che nel brusco contrasto con il mare vicino caratterizzano in modo spettacolare il territorio, si manifestano in tutta la loro imponente maestosità.

       Ma più che alle parole affidiamo la suggestiva realtà di questo centro della costa occidentale palermitana ad alcune foto scattate dal nostro sempre attento Franco Macaluso per coglierne appieno la particolare bellezza.
